Wyrd, the Norns, and the Quiet Dignity of Fate

The Norse had a peculiar respect for the wyrd — the web of fate that was not woven by the gods but merely tended by the Norns.
Even Odin, who sacrificed an eye for knowledge, could not rewrite the pattern. He could only choose how clearly he saw the threads.
There is a quiet dignity in accepting that some structures are older than your ambition. The hero who refuses this usually becomes a cautionary tale rather than a legend.
In a culture obsessed with rewriting every narrative and optimizing every outcome, the old northern view remains a useful counterweight: the pattern is already there. Clarity is the real power. Willful blindness is the real failure.
